I love hot tea. I call it my serenity now. It calms me down when i am hyper or anxious, it settles my mind when it is going awry, it soothes me when I am not feeling well. I have to have this stuff every single day. As of a matter of fact I am drinking my serenity now. I have about 2-3 cups before i go to work and what is left in my tea maker i take the rest to work which i may not drink it all. Very seldom will i come home for work and drink some but I have to calm my nerves from a long day of dealing with.............well whatever.
When Saturday hits I have to have it all day while sewing. If i am having a sewing dilemma. That mean for me i don't know what i want to sew or i sewed something and have to use my seam ripper. I get my sip on. This will instantly calm me. Why i don't know it could be all in my mind maybe i am addicted but what ever it is it works for me.
Researchers say
Green tea is known to have calming benefits and there is mounting scientific evidence that one of its most important active ingredients – (the unique amino acid L-theanine) – is responsible for this calming effect.
Suntheanine (a purified form of L-theanine from Japan) reduces feelings of anxiety and promotes the production of alpha brain waves, a state often achieved by meditation where one is deeply relaxed and mentally alert. Its effects are generally felt within 30 minutes and have been shown to last up to 8-12 hours. "Because of its mood-stabilizing effects, it would make sense that Suntheanine would be beneficial to women who experience symptoms of PMS," says Michael R. Lyon, M.D., the Medical Research Director at the Canadian Center for Functional Medicine and an expert on Suntheanine
