I was always found of vintage type clothes. I love watching the old black and white movies. Those dresses that they wore was to die for dresses. I just love love them. I still will catch a movie on Saturaday just to see the clothes. I go to resale stores to find pattern. So here are some i have found over the years
Sewing is my past time. Sewing is my calm down. Sewing to me is my serenity. Sewing means a lot to me. This blog is about sewing fashions, education for you and me and of course everyone else who want to know about this beautiful craft

This is Lauren in some nighties that i quickly stitched before here journey home to Virgina. She had be asking for some nighties since she's been here. Not realizing that my time had run out i quickly whipped up her a little nighty dreess with the little matching slippers. I think i did a ok job to be rushing.

My harlem pants
I saw this romper that I adored in a clothes store I think it was Citi Trends. You would have thought that it was a dress at first. Anybody that knows me know that i have to eye disect the whole outfit.
I am always courious as to how certain clothes are contructed. Even though i know i like to see how the particular brand made it.
Then I look up under what i thought was the skirt part of the dress. I was in shock. I said in a low voice what the hell is this.
After looking, touching and feeling and disecting it with my eyes, I said mmmm..... this is kinda cute. It was a light blue jean material and it had a poof skirt section which was sewed together so that it look like a big pant. the leg part had elastic in it. It was also a tube top style dress. After looking at it I said to myself I can make that. But i always say that never make nothing maybe something close.
I look all over the net for 2 days for the name of this attire. I think I want to go back and get that outfit and post it here although I am sure people have seen this outfit before.
Finally that second day I said to myself well they almost look like those pants that the tukish people wear. I statred looking up turkish pants. Guess what popped up? MC Hammer pants. I said to myself DAH.
So now that i am on the right track maybe i will find them. Nope I did not find the exact outfit. But what i did find was an idea for somthing else. I came up with this bright idea of mine. I have a stash of clothes that I have made years ago and a ton of stuff that I want to refashion and this is what I came up with. A pair of Harlem/Turkish pants or whatever you want to call them. I don't like how the fit me though. I will eventually make a pair that i like because they are so easy.

My Verson

I love looking at fashions. I used to a lot of window shopping. Just to see what the current fashions were. I also love seeing what people like to wear, Everybody have their own style of fashion and i love watching. Now i don't have to go out and window shop any longer. I just turn on my computer and whala. All the fashion i want to look at are everywhere. When i see something i like i save the picture to my computer and i will visualize it to what i would like to see different about the garment. Then at some time and point I will then go to my sewing machine and produce what i visualize. I guess you can say they are my inspirational photos. So this was a top that i made but i did not realize that it was one of my inspiration picture

Sweet Sensation
This is my first sample gown that I made from draping that fabric. I think i did a pretty good job considering I learned by watching the videos and reading on how to drape fabric. The thing is is that i have been doing this through out the time i have been sewing.

My Footsies

So as I sat at work one day bored as heck my mind started wondering. When i get home what can i sew that is very easy? I have no idea why my brain said ballet slippers. So...... I decided to make my own little pattern to make the ballet shoes.
After the first pair i decided to do 4 more different type of house slippers. I love to adorn my feet.
I would love it if i could learn how to make shoes. I mean you can never have to many pairs of shoes. BUT for some reason i don't have house slippers. how weird is that. My closet is full of shoes of all kinds dress shoes, casual shoes, flip flops, nurse shoes, gym shoes but where the heck are my house slippers? I would just throw on a pair of flip flop to walk around the house and call it a day. Now I have my footsies to wear and they cute

Princess Lauren

Princess Lauren
What a wonderful word for a little girl named Lauren. All little girls want to be a princess. They want the wand the tiara and of course the princess dress. My granddaughter favorite color right now is purple. I think next year I will make her a purple princess dress. So I thought. My son called me and told me that she is having a princess birthday party. And of course he wanted to know if i could make her dress. I was very hesitant because I never made a little girls glamour dress. I said to him ok let me think about it. Then he drop the bomb. He said "can you let me know soon so I will know If I have to order it." I said "ok I will." I thought and thought and I thought about every bit of 2 minutes thy thought were
"What the heck. I can't let nobody else make my grand baby princess dress and this is her first one too. How hard could it be? Surely not that hard. I have done glamour before this will be just a scaled down version. I can do this yes I can."
And it was done
I decided to make a hot pink instead of her favorite color purple. Who knows that may be here favorite color after she see it.
It was make out of the tulle and a satin material. I decided to put beads on the bodice I think she will like that. I wanted to make it sparkle so I added the long sequin hanging down from the seams of the bodice and the skirt. That put a little sparkle there. But my grand baby and I love bling bling. She must have got that from me ;). So since that was not enough bling for me I decide to make the dress a 2 pc. I made a apron out of sheer organza with sparkles on it. I could be wrong about the material. But it has a lot of sparkles on it. It was just right. (It sounds like I am telling the story of the three bears.) but anyways I know that she is gonna love that dress because she thinks that she is Princess Lauren

My Vintage patterns

I really like this dress. I am not a rel big fan of the aline look but i like this dress. I think the simple key hole design at the neck of the dress. It make this so simple dress looks so much cuter. Also i noticed that the collar is not fitted around the neck it just sits there. I really like this dress. I will make the original dress but i gotta put my twist on it. Now i would probaly make this a 2 piece outfit from this pattern. I would add to it more of what i like to it. I think i can design a jumpsuit from this pattern too.

Cotton Candy Halter Blouse

This is sizes small to extra large. I designed them to be very versatile in the fit and in different ways you can were them, they are comfortable and sexy and most will have a very busy print for modest purposes.
These prints is my boutique print meaning that i only brought so much of this fabric for this particular halter which is called Cotton Candy.
I was trying to come up with something that everyone could wear. You can wear this with a
- pair of skinny jeans
- a tank top or tub top
- a sexy flared skirt
- white linen pants
Everyone has a different look you will have your own idea.
How do hot tea and sewing work for me

I love hot tea. I call it my serenity now. It calms me down when i am hyper or anxious, it settles my mind when it is going awry, it soothes me when I am not feeling well. I have to have this stuff every single day. As of a matter of fact I am drinking my serenity now. I have about 2-3 cups before i go to work and what is left in my tea maker i take the rest to work which i may not drink it all. Very seldom will i come home for work and drink some but I have to calm my nerves from a long day of dealing with.............well whatever.
When Saturday hits I have to have it all day while sewing. If i am having a sewing dilemma. That mean for me i don't know what i want to sew or i sewed something and have to use my seam ripper. I get my sip on. This will instantly calm me. Why i don't know it could be all in my mind maybe i am addicted but what ever it is it works for me.
Researchers say
Green tea is known to have calming benefits and there is mounting scientific evidence that one of its most important active ingredients – (the unique amino acid L-theanine) – is responsible for this calming effect.
Suntheanine (a purified form of L-theanine from Japan) reduces feelings of anxiety and promotes the production of alpha brain waves, a state often achieved by meditation where one is deeply relaxed and mentally alert. Its effects are generally felt within 30 minutes and have been shown to last up to 8-12 hours. "Because of its mood-stabilizing effects, it would make sense that Suntheanine would be beneficial to women who experience symptoms of PMS," says Michael R. Lyon, M.D., the Medical Research Director at the Canadian Center for Functional Medicine and an expert on Suntheanine

Lauren's Drasses
My granddaughter was very addiment about this dress she bugged me for a week to make this dress. Once i made it she wanted more and with the scarf and a purse which i haven't made yet. She definately want a red one so she will then have 4. I ask her if she wanted a different style and showed her more patterns she say no she want the one above in red, so before she goes back home to Virgina i have to make the red one.
This dress was fairly easy it took me about 45 minutes to make.
My next project will be for my grandson
My sewin passion dedicated to my Aunt Dora

I have a passion for sewing. I have been facinated with it since i was 5 years old or younger i am now 45. It all started with my Aunt Dora she use to always want me to thread her needle because she could no longer see the eye of the needle. I is a recylement because now i can't see the eye of the needle. Luckly for us sewist that we have the needle threader. I was the needle threader for my aunt and i loved it. Her words "Squeaky (me) come thread my needle" i can still always hear that in my head. I use to tell my mom that I needed to go see Aunt Dora so that i can thread her needle. I love my aunt Dora bless her soul.
My love for sewing started then so did my love for electronics. I was so fascinating how that machine put that fabric together like that and afterwards you can wear it. as a youngster I never grasp the concept or ideas of sewing as a career. If I had I would have been a designer instead of a phlebotomist.
So now that i am older and my kids are older it is time for me to try and work more toward the things that i want, which include my own physical boutique that carries my designs as will as others sewist designs
So with that being said i have been working on this for about 8 months now. Thank you Aunt Dora if it wasn't for you i will have no intrest in sewing, and designing my own appare
